By eating fewer sweets and replacing them with fruits and vegetables you will be one step ahead. You can also raise your metabolism by eating more meals per day at smaller portions, four smaller meals is a great way to start. Eating more meals at smaller portions will keep a constant flow of nutrients making it easier to lose weight.

Exercise is the second important step in how to lose weight. Try to get twenty to thirty minutes of good cardio exercise everyday. It&#039;s a great way to burn some calories and can be as easy as a jog, bike ride, or even a short walk for just 20 minutes a day. In addition, weight lifting is another great way to burn calories. Weight lifting can continue to burn calories long after an actual workout session, rememeber to start out slowly. You do not have to kill yourself lifting weights the first week.  Gradually increase you workouts overtime.

Finally you need to find a diet that works, and a diet that allows you to eat a variety of foods. If you can&#039;t change up the foods in your diet then you will be doomed to getting sick of it and then weight gain is what will follow.

With your weights in hand and arms hanging down close to the sides, raise 7-10 lb. dumbbells behind the body as high as possible for 10 to 15 reps. Also another good one is bench presses, you don&#039;t need a bench but you can just use a sturdy chair. Sit on the edge of the chair with your palms down at the edge of the chair. Put your legs together and feet out in front of you. Slowly lift your body off the chair and down wait a few seconds then lift yourself back up to the starting position. Do 10-15 reps. Three to four times a week. They are kind of like pushups. Hope this helps.</description>

You are Good with wanting to do resistance training in addition to cardio.  An alternating schedule of one day cardio one day resistance is best.

I highly recommend 2 programs for someone that has your goals.  I like Turbo Jam (for variety, fun factor and fast pace)
I like Slim in 6 for a more traditional workout that has a good focus on total body conditioning.

Using an in home program like these is a lot more cost effective than going to a gym but it will educate you on form, process and get you results.

Do not worry about getting bulky.  Use a weight or resistance band that lets you do about 12 -1 6 reps with the last 3 reps being hard to do. This builds a longer shapely muscle.  for more muscle size look to fail at 6 - 8 reps.
In addition your body chemistry will determine how much bulk you have.  Women really do not have enough testosterone to bulk up.  It also takes a lot of work to get that way including supplements!
